When I want to save an opened e-mail attachment, a default folder named OLK54
pops up and, if I am not paying attention, I save the attachment to this
folder which is hidden under Local Settings, Temporary Internet...OLK54. I
can't even locate the file using the search feature under My Computer and
can't find it using Explorer. How can I view this hidden folder and can I
change the defalut folder OLK54 to My Documents to things don't get lost?

Yes, you can change what folder is used as Outlook's "secure" temp folder.
To make the change you will have to close Outlook and make a change to the
registry via regedit.

Location:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Security

Value to change:
OutlookSecureTempFolder

The only way I know how to get to the folder is by using a command prompt.
(Windows Explorer can't drill to it because an explorer addin kicks in that
controls the temporary internet folders. When that addin kicks in, one
can't drill into the subfolders.)

http://www.swinc.com/odefpath/ works very well also.
