hidden contacts?

Does Outlook store email addresses in different places other than
"contacts"?

I have some contacts that I have deleted from my contact list. Did a
search to make sure they are really gone. But, I can start a new
message, start typing their name, and their email pops up.

I have other cases where 1 contact had several email addresses. I
delete all except the current one (going into their card and using
email2, email3, etc). When I start a new message and type in their
name, the old email pops up and not the one in my contact folder.

I have Outlook 2002 with all updates.

Dave,

That's the nickname cache that's displaying these names when you create a
new message. To remove the name from the cache, do the following:

1. Open a new message
2. Start typing the name in the To: field
3. When the name appears, use the arrow key on the keyboard to select the
name and press Delete.

Hope this helps.

Outlook 2002 and 2003 maintain an "autocomplete" list of address you have
previously used. If you see one in the popup suggestion list that you don't
like, just select it and press delete. You can also clear the entire
autocomplete list by deleting the .nk2 file. See
http://www.slipstick.com/config/backup.htm for file locations.

Great, thanks, but... It works if there is a list I can scroll through, but
I have a few where I start typing and it just appears, no list. No where to
delete, not in right click menu.

Thanks again
