HID - error 126 Module Not Found

Hello all.

I have been dealing with this problem for a few weeks. Somehow, my HID
service got messed up and would not recognize my USB mouse on my laptop.
It's a wireless mouse so I plug the receiver into the USB and then use the
mouse. The USB port is working. I can see the red light blinking on the
receiver. Windows refuses to recognize it, however.

I researched on the web and found the fixes about putting the files from the
CD into the system32/drivers/ directory. Tried that a few times, rebooted.
Nada. Didn't help. Finally I got so frustrated with it (since it is now not
working on my drawing pad either!) that I did a format/reload of the laptop.
I completely deleted the partition and did a fresh install of Windows XP. I
have done all the updates that are out there to do. Still nothing. Tried
the bit about the files again. Nothing.

I attempt to turn on the services from the services window and it gives me
the same error I started out with - Error 126: Module could not be found.

I'm geting very frustrated, as you might imagine.

Any help is more than welcome.

Thank you

Did you press the Connect button on the bottom of the mouse? Sometimes
you have to press one on the sending unit and the mouse before they'll
agree on a frequency.

Hi :)

Yep, tried that too. Makes the receiver flash like it's supposed to. I can
move the mouse around and the receiver flashes as if it's working..but it
doesn't work on the screen itself.

Thanks for the idea though!
