I have Windows XP SP3 and when I goto the power options under advanced and
the when I close lid I only get one option - "Do Nothing" I am missing
Hibranate which I want it to do but now it just stays on. Arghhhh.

How do I fix this is there a file I am missing that I can D/L or a setting
somewhere in the registry I need to adjust?

Thanks

In the Dos prompt enter "POWERCFG /HIBERNATE, /H ON". Don't include the
quotes. You can get more information with "POWERCFG /HELP".

It did not work. It said that it is not available. Which is wrong because it
worked flawless before I had to format and reinstall xp on it two months ago.

So how do I get it back on XP so it works?

Thanks

After you reinstalled XP, did you install the latest drivers for your
display adapter? You should be able to download the correct drivers for your
laptop from the manufacturer's web site. You may find that you also need to
install the driver for your motherboard's chipset.

Good luck

Ok, how do I determine which chipset driver I need to update in the device
manager?

Depends on the make and model number of your computer or motherboard. A
program like Belarc Advisor will provide the motherboard info. Once again,
check with the manufacturer for the correct drivers.

If you're not sure how to proceed, post back with the make and model number
of your computer.

Good luck
