Hibernation BSD

I did a disk cleanup, and without thinking to much about it at the time I
allowed disk cleanup to delete the hibernation files. Now when I close the
lid on my laptop the computer appears to sleep, but when I lift the lid to
resume I get BSD and a memory dump. How do I restore the hibernation files
that were deleted

Thanks

Hi Duane--

Does disk cleanup actually delete files or just send them to the recycle
bin? You might ck. the RB and see.

I'd first try to solve this by running SFC. Type cmd in search box above
Start Button>rt. click cmd when pops up>run as admin>at prompt type sfc
/scannow. Other options would be using system restore if you have
appropriate restore point or points and finally if you have a Vista DVD you
could put in the DVD and boot from it and select Startup Repair after
clicking on the Recovery Option in the lower left hand corner of the
resulting setup screen.

Good luck,

Click Start, click All Programs, and then click Accessories.
Right-click Command Prompt, click Run as administrator, type
"powercfg -h on" (no quotation marks), and then press ENTER.

This will restore your hiberfil.sys file, and allow your system to
hibernate.

Since Disk Cleanup also cleans out the recycle bin -- one of its main
functions, tho it can be turned off -- I don't think you'll find much hope
in that area.

That was an ez fix. (I also 'cleaned up/deleted' hibernation files by mistake
when using disc clean-up). Thanks, dean-dean
