I have WinXP home on my PC. When I want to hibernate I use the shift key to
change the "standby" button and the PC goes into hibernation. When I start
again, I find that the internet connection is lost (ADSL broadband always-on
connection). No matter what I do the connection does not get restored till I
do a restart. Has anyone else have a problem like this? What is the remedy?

when it goes into hibernate it probably disables the connections so try
this.
right click on my network places and right click on properties and right
click on your connection and see if it is disabled and if it is enable it
