Hibernate

Hi

When I hibernate my computer it sez
"hibernating" and then
goes back to the last screen with open
programs.

After that it will not
hibernate.............my only options are
shut down or
standby.

Does anyone know what file controls that and
how to correct it?
It used to work OK. The computer is new HP
Media center 2 months old.
