I installed high-speed internet yesterday. Since then,
my Hibernate and/or Stand-by only lasts about three
minutes before the computer turns back on. It used to
last all night. Is there a connection between the
installation of high-speed and my loss of this feature?
I now have to turn the computer completely off if I want
it to rest... Thanks for any help.

Does your new modem have a standby or off switch? Might try using that to
see if the "always on" connection with the ISP is keeping your system
"awake" all night.

Open Modem Properties in Device Manager and choose the appropiate option in
the Power Management tab - uncheck "allow this device to wake up computer"
or so.
