Whenever I connect to Hi-speed Internet, it kicks me in and
out of the connection, I talked to the provider, there is
absolutely no problem from their side, no problems with any
of the hardware components, I tested all the hardware
diagonistics for modem and my system. I have to move the
cable again and again to get reconnected, there is no
problem in the IP Settings, I've installed Spy-ware and
Ad-ware removal programs, there were some spy-wares, but
successfully removed all of them, is there anything that
can be done to solve this problem. Please sugget.

Best Wishes,
Paul.

You have to move the cable around to get reconnected? That's sounds like a
bad cable or connector.

Hi Purple,

I've 2 additional cables, and it's the same problem with
all of them, it's not a problem with the cable.

Cables may be OK but the connector on the cable modem may be the
problem since you say moving the cable lets you reconnect. As
Purplehaze said either the cable or a connector is going flakey.

Sounds like a problem I've been having and posting about for weeks
with no solutions. It all started last month when I built a new system
and started using Windows XP Pro. Never happened to me before unless
the cable went out in the area. Now I lose my connection a couple of
times a day. Brand new modem and cables, the cable guy was here the
other day and checked eveything out, motherboard company says there's
no known issues. I' mdetermined that it's some kind of setting in
Windows but everyone says no, no problems with Windows XP and high
speed connections. If you find a fix, please let me know.

Make sure that Windows isn't permitted to turn off the nic to save
power. I believe you can find this setting in the nic's Properties in
Device Manager.

Good call......... you might be on to something here. Should be on the power
management tab of the nics properties.

Thanks. Someone suggested that a while back, and I checked it out. The
box isn't checked to have Windows power down the card. Could that be
controlled anyplace else?

Don't know if this will work with your particular issue, but I had something
like this happening to me when I connected my new Dell XPS with XP-Pro to
the internet via a cable modem. I used a USB connection. I was ready to
send the thing back, it kept freezing up and crashing. The last thing I
thought to do was remove the cable from the USB connection and use the
standard network cable. Needlesstosay, it hasn't crashed or froze since.

Thanks. But I'm already using the RJ45 jack on the motherboard instead
of the USB option. My Motorola cable lets me connect either way. I was
thinking of trying the USB connection, but this would be the opposite
of what you did.
