Hi,
I inserted my xp setup disk and wanted to do the repair function and a
fatal error message appeared whilst installing windows componants
the message is "the file asms on windows xp professionbal cd-rom is needed.
Please type the path where the fie is located, then click ok."

I dnt kno where the file is located. Thre xp disk is already in the drive.
Ive tried to reboot, is there any way i can bypass this. My work is on the pc
and i dont have backups! Please can anyone help me?

Examine the Windows XP CD and make sure it is absolutely "pristine clean"
with no scratches, fingerprints or smudges. Use a mild non-ammonia based
household cleaning solution and a soft cloth to clean it.

You can consider this a lesson learnt the hard way.
