please can somebody help me. i am having problems with windows.
Recently i run norton antivirus and it told me that i had adware called
xsoftware. It could not delete the file. I followed the path and deleted the
software etc from my computer and emptied my bin.
When i run Norton again it still located it. I was told that it has added to
my windows registry. I cannot locate it anywhere and my computer is so slow.
I followed symantecs advice which told me to go to regedit and follow the
hkey_local_machine and i could not find currentversion\run.
Please can somebody give me some advice as to how to locate and delete.
Adware program cannot find it either. Thank you

Thank you very much. I have done all that i have been advised to do and
nothing has worked. My computer and all my software keeps freezing up and i
cant open anything up on internet explorer. all i get is detecting settings.
i do not understand the registry so do not want to mess with me. the filename
is C:\programfiles\xsoftware\working\appmon.dll and also iemon.dll. please
help meeeeeeeee

You need to run all antivirus and anti-spyware scans in Safe Mode, first
making sure you've enabled the ability to see all hidden files and
extensions (Folder Options applet). To get into Safe Mode, repeatedly
tap F8 as the computer is starting up and you'll get the proper menu.
Choose "Safe Mode" (no networking). Now run your NAV and the following
anti-spyware tools:

Remove spyware with Spybot Search & Destroy from
www.safer-networking.org and Ad-aware from www.lavasoftusa.com. Be sure
to update these programs before running them. These programs are free,
so run them both since they complement each other. It is best to run
antivirus and spyware removal tools in Safe Mode. You may also want to
run CWShredder and HijackThis from http://aumha.org/freeware.htm.
Although CWShredder is no longer being updated, it will still clean
older variants of the CoolWebSearch malware. A combination of
HijackThis and About:Buster (http://www.majorgeeks.com) works well in
removing homepage hijackers. Please read the instructions carefully.
Make sure you are able to see all hidden files and extensions (View tab
in Folder Options). Also, make sure you've visited Windows Update and
applied all security patches. Do not install driver updates from
Windows Update. Make sure you are running a firewall.

If you are still unable to clean your computer, take it to a local
professional (not a BestBuy or CompUSA type of store) for fixing.
Removing malware often takes a lot of skill, deep knowledge of Windows
operating systems, and patience.

Good luck,

Malke
