What is the thing called in the image below. A friend from S.A seen wants to know, and I don't know what they called. IS there a special name. I know its for our gas.....

I think they're called 'Gas Towers', although I might be wrong.

They are called 'Gasometers'
The bottom was fall of water, and they used to raise and lower the sides/roof to keep the gas pressure inside the container constant, depending on the amount of gas inside.
 
Gas Holders....as often mentioned by the TMS Team at The Oval during International Tests & ODI's
