nOur AVG software normally updates automatically when we fire up the PC, this
won't work now as the error message tells us that the server adress can't be
converted to an IP address (or something like that). Thought it was the AVG
application but we got the same message when Windows Update tried to
automatically update! Anyone got any ideas what's going on??

Thanks

sounds like a DNS problem. how do you connect to the Internet? open a
Command Prompt window and type "ipconfig /all" (without quotes) and
press Enter. What does it say for "DNS Servers"?

Go to Start, Control Panel, Network and Internet Connections, Network
Connections, right click on your network connection, click on Properties,
click on Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click on Properties. Choose "Obtain
IP address automatically" and "Optain DNS server automatically".
