On the website I am making, I already have premade layout to put on the
website. I want this layout to show up on every page, and for the outside
contents of the websites to be the same on every page. The only area that I
want to chang is a box in the middle, where different content will be held on
each page. Also, the outside contents of the layout, I want to be able to,
if I change one page, for it to change every page. Does that make sense?
Can anyone help me?

If you are using FP2003, you can create the layout as a dynamic web template, where the area in the
middle is defined as a editable region.

If you are using a version prior to FP2003, then you can structure your page layout using tables,
then use the FP Include Page component to share banners, footers and navigation between pages, give
you a minimum of 3 pages to update that would then update other pages.

Thanks a lot! That really helps! I think I am getting it...But, a few
things I am confused on is this (Hope you don't mind me asking!...):

It said to save it as 'Dynamic Web Template'...It is a totally different
page than my other index page because of the way it has been saved, will this
show up on my website when I load it or will it be the old one?

Also, like I said, I want the main box, in the middle, to be different on
each page, will it change every page to be the same as the index page if I
use that step, or do I only want to make the dynamic web template on the
outer regions or or in the middle area? Because, if I only do it for the
middle, will all the outer regions be the same on each page, or what?

Sorry if I'm not making a lot of sense...I'm pretty confused...

Basically you need to start fresh by creating your DWT, then applying it to each new page as you
create them, you define the areas of the DWT that you want to be different on each page as Editable
regions.

Thanks a lot! So, I need to apply each layout to each page? Or is there a
way to make the layout apply on all? And, if I want to make just the middle
box editable, I make them Editable regions, but the other regions, if I
change something on one page, will it change it on all of the pages?

You have to modify the DWT for changes to be updated on the pages using the DWT. You need to apply
the DWT to each page.

To amplify a bit on Thomas' answer, you create a DWT for your site that
contains all of the 'boilerplate' (i.e., the stuff that doesn't change from
one page to the next, like mastheads, mission statements, taglines,
navigation elements, etc.), *AND* the HTML infrastructure to contain the
rest of your site's content. As an example consider a layout where you have
a banner on top, a navigation on left, and content to the right of this but
below the banner. You would create this page with (for example) a two row
by two column table. Merge the top two cells for your banner. In the lower
left-hand cell, select top alignment, and nest another table to hold your
navigation elements. In the lower right-hand cell, you could nest another
table for content.

Now - save this page as a DWT, and make the lower right-hand cell an
editable region for your page-specific content. To begin creating your
site, you would now create a new page, apply the template to it, and pour in
your content.

I hope I got those steps right.... 8)

I have the same type of website. I just saved the page I
wanted with shared border and all settings for everythign
I wanted to show up and each time I add a new page I
bring up that page add what I want in the content "table"
in the middle and then resave it as the new page, put it
in the navigation and there it is. There probably is an
easier way? but I don't know it. lol Jill

The DWT is a replacement for Shared Borders.
