Rick,

I have the same problem but in my case my WPA.DLL
is being destroyed randomly. Do you know what might
cause that?

What does a scan with a current antivirus (version not earlier than
2003) using updated virus definitions show? Do the scan in Safe Mode.

Do you mean WPA.dbl? - there is no wpa.dll

In that case two possibilities - a trojan attack, and possibly the use
of a system hack intended to evade the need for activation (do a search
for reset5 - the relevant file). If you have the hack you need to
reinstall clean and activate legitimately

Actually, you don't have to reinstall Windows XP. That is a silver bullet!

- Go to MSCONFIG, Services Tab
- Hide all Microsoft Services
- is the service "RESET5" present?

If so:
SERVICES from Computer Management : disabled RESET5.DLL
(Right click on My Computer and select Manage to get to Computer Managment)

THEN:
FILES TO REMOVE (if present):

c:\Windows\reset5.dt1
c:\Windows\reset5.dt2
c:\Windows\reset5.dt3
c:\Windows\prefetch\reset5.exe
c:\Windows\System32\reset.exe
c:\Windows\System32\reset5.bat
c:\Windows\System32\reset5.dll < can't remove
c:\Windows\System32\reset5.exe
c:\Windows\System32\resetwpa.reg
c:\Windows\System32\ResetService.exe

(there may be another other than reset5.dll that cannot be removed)
- you could use Recovery Console to remove the RESET5.DLL file
- or use a third party tool such as KILLBOX (do a search at Google.com)
- Killbox would remove a file on next restart (be careful with that tool!)

- now you should be able to load into Windows without having to reactivate
each time. (you may have to activate once though)

- please let us know if this helped.

This above solution is for the Windows XP Activation Loop issue caused by the
Reset5 service.

That refers to a hack that allows people to evade activation. It is
caught by SP2. No help on offer, except to reinstall with a legitimate
unhacked version
