Help! Words duplicate when you hit spacebar

Strange problem here. When typing in MS Word, every time I hit the spacebar
the word I just typed appears a second time. For instance, if I type the word
"America" when I hit the spacebar to keep typing it appears as "America
America"...

Very strange and I hope someone can help.

It sounds like you have your spacebar set to the "EditRedoOrRepeat" command.

Press Ctrl+Alt+NumPlus
Press Space - the Customize keyboard Dialog should be displayed.
Select "Space" under "Current Keys"
Press "Remove"
Press "Close"
