Help with user profile

I look after a LAN onboard a drillship. The server runs windows serve
2000, the workstations XP Pro.

Last night one of the user profiles disapeared from the user
workstation. Now when he logs in a temporary profile is created.

I can't create a permanent profile for the user. I have tried changin
the user to admin status but still the profile is deleted on logout.

This is true if he logs in at any workstation. Other users can log i
at his workstation and the profile is saved.

I guess the problem lies in the registry. I suspect that there is a ke
somewhere in local user that removes the user from the profile list.

Any suggestions welcome.

Has his/her account be may a "guest" type account? I know if an account has
been setup as a "guest" type account, the profile and related files are
deleted each time upon logoff - defaulting back to the "default" profile
settings upon next logon.
