was having a problem yesterday with a virus, and I was told to turn off
Windows Xp System Restore. I went in to my Computer and clicked on Properties
and went to the System Properties and clicked on System Restore tab and
turned it off. Fixed my problem and went back to Properties again to restore
it and the Tab for System Restore was no longer there. How can I get this
back.

Make sure the System Restore Service is started. Go to Start | Run |
services.msc | Ok. Scroll to the System Restore Service. Make sure
it's started and set to automatic. If it is and still no System restore
tab reinstall system restore.

1. Insert the Windows XP CD
2. Click Start/Run and type:
"rundll32.exe advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection C:\Windows\Inf\sr.inf"

Thank You Rock for the information I did everything you said and still not
working for me. I am still working on it some more. Thank You for your Help.

For future information.

You should never repeat never disable System Restore while you are
attempting to clean up viruses or spyware. Doing so creates a risk
that you may end up with an uncoverable problem with your computer.

System Restore should/must be cleaned up, but this should only be done
as a final step, after the problem has been fixed and the computer is
operating normally. And even then disabling System Restore is a less
than optimal method of doing this. The lowest risk method of doing so
is to:

1. Create a manual system restore point when the cleanup is finished
and everything is running properly.
2. Use Disk Cleanup (Accessories - System Tools), go to the Advanced
Options tab and choose the option to remove all but the most recent
system restore points. This will clean out everything but the restore
point that you just created in step 1, giving you exactly the same
result as if you had disabled System Restore, rebooted the computer,
and turned (or as you found out, tried to turn) System Restore back on
again.

Good luck
