help with start

due to a worm dialer i that i can not erase, i want to
delete my os xp home and reinstall it . i then hope that
worm will be erased. is this a correct move? my pc is new
and offcourse my xp home original. how can i do this. are
the steps diff.? i know how to make the bios boot from the
cd.
the norton only finds it and then it appears again.
it calls a 0024 international number.
help?

Easier to remove the dialer. Give some details on why you don't think it can be removed. Detail what you've tried and exact messages (Ctrl + C copies the text of a message box). Give as much detail about the dialer as you can.

Formatting and reinstalling XP will get rid of the worm but it's a drastic
step that probably isn't necessary.
