Help with 'Repair'

N

Noel S Pamfree

Following advice from the group I tried to do the following:
===========================
Boot from your Windows Vista DVD,
select the System Repair Option
on the setup screen, select 'Repair Computer
Select your installation of Windows
select Startup
Repair option and follow instructions
===========================

Here is my problem. The Vista disk I have came with my desktop from Dell.
When I insert it the only options I get are to install or update Vista.

I have tried to solve this my self and I found an idea on the web to push F8
key during start up and I would get an additional option in Vista to 'Repair
Your Computer' but I only get the standard menu of Safe mode options nothing
about repairing.

If anyone can help it will be greatly appreciated

Thanks,

Noel

The Dell OEM disk is deifferent to the "Real" microsoft disk;dell wants you
to wipe the hard drive and take it back to factory standards. In other words,
lose ALL data and installed Programs.

In Safe mode, go start>Accessories>system tools>Command Prompt> right-click
run as Admin> in "sfc /scannow" without the " "
