Help with repair boot disk - repair is not detecting boot disk

Guest

I have created a set of Windows 2000 repair boot disks. I have corrupted
Windows 2000 system files so I am trying to use the repair boot disks. I did
the following:

1) booted up from emergency repair boot disk #1 (then inserted disks 2-4).
2) gone through the menus for repair options for 'manual' repair

When it comes to the repair asking me to insert boot disk in drive A:, I did
and hit ENTER. But when I did this, it does NOT detected any of the
emergency repair boot disks.

Please, I need help ASAP!!!

I think the four disks you used to boot your machine are the
Recovery Console boot diskettes. They are not emergency
repair diskettes. You could have booted into the Recovery
Console much more quickly by booting the machine with your
Win2000 installation CD and selecting Repair when prompted.

When the system asks you to insert the Emergency Repair boot
diskette then you need to give it the diskette you made with
ntbackup.exe (Tools / Create an Emergency Repair Disk).
This is NOT the same as Disk 1 of your Recovery Console
boot diskettes. If you did not make one of them then you cannot
use this repair process. These days few people use this method.
Most prefer to create a full image of their installation, using
one of the well known third-party imaging products.

Try booting into Safe Mode or into Last Known Good
Configuration.

Sounds very strange indeed. I've never heard of these four "repair" disks.

The four floppy disks (setup disks) are normally used on systems that cannot
bootup from a CD-ROM drive. At the end of the fourth disk's install it will
prompt the user to install the Windows CD in the CD-ROM drive. It does not ask
for any repair disks to bootup from again nor does it try to detect any repair
disks.

If you're trying to utilize the Recovery Console, see this article for complete
details:

If the suggestions from others don't work and you really want to try the
Emergency Repair but don't have the diskette, when asked for the
diskette press L .
