Help with networking!

Can anyone help me please?
I have installed a 'router' or whatever it is called!
I have connected the cable modem (ntl broadband) to it, and my desktop
(which was on before) can still connect to the internet, but my other
computer can't. However, my 2nd computer shows 'my network places' but my
main computer doesn't, leading me to believe that somehting is wrong on main
computer with regards to networking.
I have tried to ping, but they are not picking each other up.
Can anyone advise before I go crazy?
Thank you

Let's start by looking at "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all" from each
computer. Read this article, and linked articles, and follow instructions
precisely (download browstat!):
