I have been told that Microsoft Office 2003 will run well on Vista , can
anyone help with this

Thanks for that looks like I will have to invest in that 2003, my Microsoft
Office 2002 is not working with Vista

THANKS TO ALL OF YOU WILL INVEST IN 2003 AND THROW OUT 2002

That's one option. But before you do anything rash, I'd suggest you try
OpenOffice.org. It will cost you about 10 minutes and no cash. Open Office
is a completely free, open source office suite which is very compatible
with MS Office - It may very well meet all your needs.

i was disappointed with office 2003 service pack 3 that claimed it will
improve compatiblity with vista etc.
so i installed it and realised i cannot uninstall it. now i cannot open
office documents like word, powerpoint that were created about 12 years ago
(in the name of security measures). trying to follow the suggestions on the
ms knowledgebase also doesnt seem to help. i feel microsoft's changes are
sometimes unnecessary and cause more inconvenience than empowering users.

No its not, Microsoft Office files with complex formatting often do not
convert well with Open Office.org applications. The Office 2007 files are
especially worst with the OpenXML filters.

Except the post is about Office 2003...

Exactly correct. And after five years I have yet to produce or recieve a
file formatted so complexly that it did not render properly with
OpenOffice.

It works with some problems.
Service Pack 3 resolves some of them, but not all.
Macros have problems and you get some debug messages.
Also, for example, if you try to open the Office Assistant
Gallery in Options, you will get a message saying:
"There is not enough memory available to complete this operation",
meaning that MS Office and Vista are having compatibility problems,
that Microsoft is failing, so far, to resolve.

Thanks for your helpful posting to JennyS. I am going to try to run my 2003
Office Pro on my new laptop which runs Windows Vista. Should go smooth,
thanks to the info you shared.

Best,
