Help with Internet explorer

Jim

Every time I go on the internet I get a box that pops up
and says it has to shut down the system. It says it is
initiated by NT Authority/System, and says something
about a Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Can anyone tell me
how to fix this.
Thanks
Jim

I'm not being sarcastic, when I ask, have you been living under a rock? All
media, TV, Newspapers, and the internet, have been talking about the Blaster
Worm that causes that behavior. It spread globally quickly. You can
download a removal tool at:

http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.blaster.worm.removal.tool.htm
l

If you can't stay online long enough to download the tool:

Boot Windows XP into Safe Mode (power on pressing F8 before the Windows XP
logo). When the menu appears, select Safe Mode, and allow the Desktop to
load. Then Click the Start button, click Run,

type: regedit

When the Registry Editor opens, in the left pane navigate to the key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

In the right pane you'll see a string that mentions msblast.exe. Highlight
that string, then right click it, and left click Delete.

Then open My Computer or Windows Explorer and navigate to the
Windows/System32 folder and delete the file msblaster.exe. Then empty the
recycle bin. Then reboot, and you should be able to stay connected to the
internet to download the W32Blaster removal tool. Then use that tool
according to the instructions at the site. Then reboot, and go to:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=2354406C-C5B6-44AC-
9532-3DE40F69C074&displaylang=en

and download and install the security patch that fixes the flaw that allowed
the Blaster Worm to do its damage in the first place. Also, you might want
to think about getting a firewall. Zone Alarm Standard is FREE, and will do
the job.
