Help with internet e-mail configuration.

This is regarding Outlook 2000 on a Windows2000 Pro desktop. It is configued
for "inner-office e-mail" using Microsoft Mail plus internet e-mail (pop3).
We DO NOT run an Exchange Server.

I am receiving the following message..."Internet e-mail service is not
properly installed. Please re-install Outlook and specify the "Corporate or
Workgroup" E-mail service.

This occurred after I uninstalled and reinstalled Internet Explorer because
of a problem. It would not open and kept getting an error. The error turned
out to be a malicious malware file, which has since been deleted.

I have tried unistalling and reinstalling Outlook several times to no avail.
What am I missing??? When I am installing Outlook, it is not giving me the
option to choose the "Corporate or Workgroup". If I go into Tools > Services
and add the Internet E-mail service, it says the service won't be started
until I choose Exit and Log off. It does not prompt me to configure it in any
way. When I go back in and even try to open the internet e-mail properties,
it says "The action could not be completed. The action could not be
completed.". The Microsoft Mail (inner-office e-mail) is working just fine.

Help! Thanks in advance.

I'd try a 'Help|Detect and Repair', first. You can change to
Corporate/Workgroup mode from 'Tools|Options|Mail Support|Reconfigure Mail
Support'.
