MichaelN

Is there anyone out there that can help me with a form that doesn't
work. I get the following error:

FrontPage Error.
User: please report details to this site's webmaster.

Webmaster: please see the server's system log for more details.

I contacted my webmaster, SBCGlobal.net, but they couldn't help cause
they say it's a fronpage issue. Any help would be much appreciated. My
web site is located at:

How did you create this form and how did it get on the server?

Did you create this form locally in a open web / site, meaning the you use File Menu | Open Web /
Site before you created the form?

Did you use File Menu | Publish Web / Site and enter http://www.yourdomainname.com to publish the
site to the live/remote server?

Thomas,

What does this mean:?

....webbot bot="SaveResults" u-file="unsaved:///_private/feedback.txt" s-format="TEXT/TSV" s-label-fields="TRUE

I don't think I've ever seen "unsaved:///..." before.

I have never seen that in a page on the web, and that is most likely the problem, but I need answers
to my questions.

The form was on a template I bought. I made a few changes in the
wording of the form. When I first created, yes I did go to File/ Open
Web/Site. Publishing is done File/Publish Site in FP2003.

Never mind posting the link.

You need to open the form up in FP directly on the live/remote site, then go to Form Properties, and
change the following:

unsaved:///_private/feedback.txt

to

_private/feedback.txt

Can I not do that on my hard drive and then upload?

Just want to keep everything sychronized.

M

I made the changes, but that didn't work. The message I got was:

This form cannot be configured to send results via e-mail. The website
may be located at a disk based location, or on a server that has not
been configured to send e-mail. Contact your administrator or
internet service provider.

Did you do this on the live/remote server or your local machine?

....and, once again, has the host configured the forms to email transport in
the extensions on the remote web site? Can't seem to get him to answer
this. Been working with him on the addins newsgroup.

Yes, sorry, that was the first question I asked my web host. That's
when he said I had to paste his script on my form.

M

MichaelN

On both.

First, I went online and did it on the remote server, then I did it on
my local machine. Neither worked.

T

Tom Pepper Willett

Pasting script is not how it works.

The host must do it in the server extensions!!!!

Ok, locally it will not work unless you have SMTP server installed and the extensions have been
configure to process email and you are testing the form via http://localhost/filename.htm and your
ISP allows you to send email from a non-logged in application.

If you host told you to use a script, then they do not support the function of the FP extensions
being able to send email, and at which point it this is no longer a FP related issue. You will need
to work with your host on how to send email using the script they provided, however you will not
able to write to a file, like you would be able to do with FP, unless you learn how to code in
whatever language the script was written in.

He said they do not support e-mail through a FP form, and that
therefore is was a Microsoft issue and that I had to contact
Microsoft. He said I would have to use their own form, which I was
hoping not to do. I'll contact then again and see what they say.

thanks.
