Help with Contacts in Outlook XP vs. PAB in 2000

Hi,
I just installed Outlook XP on a new computer, and I copied my PST from
my old computer using Outlook 2000. I copied all the contacts from my
old contacts to the new contacts without a problem. I noticed that the
format seems different, or that in Outlook 2000 my contacts was
connected to my Personal Address book and changes I made in the PAB
were reflected in the Contacts. In the XP version there is no PAB and
when i open up "address book" it just gives me a list of e-mail
addresses as opposed to the PAB format where i could edit all the
entries.
My main issue is the format between a PAB Contact and someone in
the Outlook Contacts is different, and the Outlook Contacts does'nt
have the same feaure i'm looking for. What i'm trying to do is to
change the default e-mail address for a contact. In the old PAB it
seemed like you can add as many addresses for a contact as you wanted,
and then just click on one and choose set as default. Though in the
contacts folder on outlook xp, it just lists 3 different spaces for
e-mail address and i don't see any option to choose one as default. Is
it possible to add more than three e-mail addresses for any one contact
and is there a way to change the default e-mail address without
actually having to retype them, and put the default address in the
primary slot. It just seemed a lot easier to manage this in the PAB.
Thanks for the help!

You're describing features of the Windows Address Book, not the Personal
Address Book, which had a weird integration with Outlook 2000 that
thankfully (because it was difficult to support and troubleshoot) has
disappeared in later versions.

Each contact is limited to 3 addresses. There is no such thing as a default
address for a contact, but you'll find that the autocomplete feature will
remember what address you've used in the past.

Thanks for your response, i did notice that autocomplete does remember
that last e-mail i chose for a given contact, but now my problem is
that when i put in that contact it won't let me switch to a different
address of that contact by right clicking on it in the TO field. Is
there a way to change which address autocomplete assigns to a contact
after it is set, or maybe i just should disable autocomplete and only
use the auto-resolve or whatever the older contact check mechanism that
is also used?
Thanks!

It's up to you. You can also create a one-member distribution list if you
want a way to have a nickname for a contact and send to a particular address
with that nickname.
