Help with Add/Remove programs

Hi all,

When I go into Add/Remove programs, it will list about 20 or programs (A-E)
then a huge amount of space is filled with black. At some spots it is almost
like looking a t a zebra, there are black and white columns. Then the normal
program list continues with letters G-Z.

I am running Win Xp home Service pack 2.

I do have the auto update turned off (now it is). This is the first time I
have gone into Add/Remove programs on this machine. It has been running for
about 10 months or so.

Any help is appreciated,

George

Just alittle more info:

I do not have Autocad, so the links from Kellys do not help.

I ran that VBS script to see any icons with a negative, ther was one with
-111, another with -101 and two with -0. Those values were removed. But I
still have the black and white lines.

George,

This is usually caused by one of the applications that's using Windows
Installer (not all). See if using the third-party MyUninstaller utility can
help.

MyUninstaller: Alternative to the standard Windows Add / Remove module:

Ramesh,
I am having the exact symptons described by George. I also do not have
autocad and the links for Kelly do not apply. I do not wish to uninstall any
programs at this time, I only want to remove the black and white boxes and
stripes from my Add/Remove programs list with the XP OS from Control Panel.
I downloaded the MyUninstaller utility but do not understand how this utility
can resolve our problems. Thanks for any instruction you can provide.

Darryl,

MyUninstaller does not solve this problem. It's only an alternate to the
Add/Remove Programs applet. However, you may use MyUninstaller to identify
which application is supposed to appear in place of the huge Black/White
space. IIRC, MyUninstaller lists the entries in the same order as the
Add/Remove Programs applet.
