Help with a little situation

I am currently getting a small box titled shit with connection failure
written into it, appear whenever i switch on my work laptop. It happens
after windows xp boots up.

I've never encountered this before or ever heard of anything like this
before. Can anyone tell me if this is a virus or not please?

Any help with this is welcome.

It really sounds like a virus. I ran over to Mcafee and Norton and I'm not
sure what the literal message is.

Go over to symantec...

and put in the literal. I put in the Literal "sh**" (replacing the last two
** with it and it looked like there are a few, but I don't know the other
symptoms. Are your virus defs up to date? In the last week, I've gotten
well over 1,000 viruses sent to me, and many have been posted on the NG so
I'd go over to one of the sites for a checkup.
