Help. Windows ME to XP

Hi

I need some advice regarding upgradin my home pc to
windows xp. I bought Windows XP home but my pc already
has Windows millenium edition on it. I tried to load xp
thinking it would just upgrade what was there but I hit a
load of problems and had to cancel the installation. It
was saying there was already an operating system and
started talking about partioning. I got out then.

Have I bought the wrong thing? I thought upgrading the
system would be easy. Is there any way I can load this on
to my pc and have it overwrite ME?

Apparently, you acquired an "OEM Version" of Windows XP.
OEM versions cannot upgrade an existing Windows installation. Only
"Retail Versions" can upgrade. Either purchase a "Retail Version" of Windows XP
or reformat your drive to install the OEM version "clean".
