HELP!! Wanting to use computer when on holidays

Hi
I am going into the USA for 2 months and have to take my computer.The place
where I am staying does not have Internet. Someone told me that I could use
dial-up if I got a 1-800 # from my present provider & just plug into the
phone line. Unfortunately my provider does not have a 1-800 #. I am with
(Shaw) and Shaw told me to go to www.webmail.ca to access my mail. Does
anyone out there know if I will be able to do this?

If your residence won't have internet access, you'll need a dial-up
subscription (US$9.95/month and up) and the requisite connection line. Or
you might be able to use public wireless connections (some free, some not),
assuming it's a laptop.

Once you connect, you should be able to reach your webmail page using your
browser.

I'm not familiar enough with your ISP to say this with 100%
certainty, but you might want to double check that internet
address you were given. A quick check on Shaw's web site points
to this site for web access to your email.

As for connecting to the internet, one options you could
explore is prepaid internet access cards. They're similar to
the phone cards you see sold in convenience stores.

First find out if your ISP has a webmail access. That is can you read, reply, compose and delete
your mail from their web site access. Then when you get to the USA, stop into any library and use
their computers for free access to the Internet and log on to your ISP's webmail. Or if your
laptop has wireless access, may public places have free (or low cost) wireless access to the
Internet. Again you want to use your ISPs webmail access or the two options below.

As your ISP advised, you can also logon to www.webmail.ca and access your mail with your email
address and your password.
Another service with the same features is www.mail2web.com.
