HELP : W2K hosts having weird behaviour

D

Dav

I have several cloned Win2K workstation on my LAN, and
some rare hosts seems not to be reachable on the network,
though these hosts are able to browse the network!

Let's say :
WS001 192.128.1.1 normal W2K workstation
WS002 192.128.1.2 abnormal W2K workstation
WS003 192.128.1.3 normal W2K workstation
DC001 192.128.1.100 W2K server, domain controller

DC001 is also the DNS server for my LAN
No WINS server.
All WS00x hosts are cloned, registered on domain
controlled by DC001 ; no NETBios installed.
All WS00x are present in DNS table (and reverse DNS),
I've checked.

Same mask (255.255.255.0) for all hosts.
On all WS00x, the same (and only) DNS server : DC001.
No WINS, no LMHOST.

But, still there is a pb.
WS002 is not browsable by others hosts (including server)-
->ERR 53.

WS002 doesn't answer to ping request, whether I specify
its hostname or its IP...

More weird : when I'm on this WS002, I can browse some of
the others hosts on domain, but not ALL of them : WS001
is not reachable, e.g.
When on WS002, I send a ping WS001, system
answers "Unknown host".
When I send a ping to the same host (ping 192.168.1.1),
but giving its IP address, I have a good answer.
So, I could think it is DNS pb.
BUT WHEN I DO A ping -a 192.168.1.1 it is still
answering, and the name is correctly resolved !!! If I
immediatly try to ping this hostname, the same error :
unknow host, though it just have been resolved!!!

Any idea?

Route table is ok.
There is only the cloned OS on hosts (no further
applications).

Did you run sysprep before cloning to remove the security IDs OR did you
use a third party tool after cloning to change the SIDs?
