Help w/BLUE Screen: PFN_LIST_CORRUPT

1 Ghz machine AMD, 500+ mb RAM, 80 GB Disk
XP Home - just reinstalled (due to "flakiness")

Every so often, during cold and warm boots, machine reverts to a Restart
mode displaying a BLUE screen with msg:

PFN-LIST_Corrupt.

This is followed by a help msg, noting for those seeing this for the first
time, etc.

Nothing NEW has been added (ref help msg noted above), no new hardware or
software.

There is a STOP address. Also RAM is dumped to a location on disk.

Machine restarts . . . PFN-LIS-Corrupt may appear a second time, sometimes
not, i.e. XP Home loads properly.

Pls, What is this PFN-LIST-CORRUPT msg telling me?

Best Regards,
Wayne

Thanks for the feedback! Machine has worked w/current set of drivers for
a few years which leads me to think the RAM may be the culprit.

(BTW, link to osronline.com did not work.)

An enjoyable and safe weekend to you!

Pulled RAM and ran an eraser down the connector(s). Considerable very fine
dust/soot at the connector - maybe at high freq, losses across the pins
(??). No blue screens (just yet). Machine "seems" to be running a bit
faster. Is this possible? Dirty mem caused multiple RAM read/writes to get
the job done??

All much better. Thank You

BTW, where might I find a mem R/W diagnostic? Worthwhile "exercising" RAM
every so often??
Also, XP has a PC-Health folder. How is this used?
