Help using dos in win xp pro

Hi All,

I am running win xp professional. I recently downloaded a
program ActivePerl. After the download I tried to
download two packages that is supposed to be an addition
to the program. The only way to get these packages is to
type in ppm installl dbi or ppm install dbd::mysql at the
dos prompt. My problem is that all of my exe files are
not executing from the dos prompt or from RUN. The only
way I was able to execute yahoo messenger from the dos
prompt was to type ypager.exe instead of ypager. However
ppm.bat install dbi would not work.
