Help: unjoin win2kpro laptop from non-existent domain

I am trying to unjoin my laptop (win2k Pro) from a non-
existing domain. The IT dept. took the old domain server
and re-allocated it. I am currently unable to join a new
domain due to the fact that I can't Unjoin my existing
domain.

You should be able to do to the computer properties, change to a workgroup,
which then makes your computer a standalone machine. Then you can join the
domain.
