Help- Uncompressing Zip Disks

I have a few disks I compressed while on Win98. When I try to access the
zip disk there is only one file visible.. a "Read Me" file. When I open it
it says that I need Win98 to uncompress it. I no longer have Win98.. but
have XP Pro.

Is there a way to decompress this disk with XP? The instructions for 98 say
to go to Start | Run and type in "DRVSPACE". That doesn't seem to be a
valid command in XP

One more comment.. the ReadMe says "This disk was compressed using
DriveSpace 3, which requires Windows 98."

That is the only thing I see on the disk.. I have two zip disks like this.
Any one familiar with this? If there are compressed files will I likely see
something else.. or is it likely this is the only thing on there. There
should be a bunch of music on each file.

Uh! you need Windows 98 to uncompress the disk. XP does not have the
program to do this and I don't think the program is compatible with XP.
Find someone who has a 98 machine and uncompress them by copying to their
hard drive and then format the Zip disk without compression and copy the
files back or copy them to a CD.

Depending on what the disk contains, that might cause problems on the
W98 computer - who knows what would be restored and where and what
would be overwritten?

I would suggest taking the disk to a computer shop to extract the
files to CD.

Most people would copy to a new temporary folder on the hard drive and not
copy to the Windows folder or the like. The compression program from 98 is
not WinZip (which will copy and recreate folders). It is a seamless program
and will copy (using Windows Explorer or or the DOS prompt copy or Xcopy) to
the location you specify and automatically uncompress it to the specified
folder. This will not cause an overwrite of files.
