help to find an ethernet controller driver

G

Gabriel Knight

Hi all I need a driver for an onboard LAN for a "A-Open MX4SG-4DN" mobo, I
tried this one here:

http://www.driverstock.com/AOpen-MX4SG-4DN-driver-download/29-9-12798/index.html

but it still says that there is no driver installed for the ethernet
controller in device manager meaning the driver didnt work from the above
site even after a reboot.
the pc that needs the driver isnt connected to the internet so I cant do a
search for a automatic driver search.
Can someone please help...

Thanks all
GK.

It might help, as well, to verify the Ethernet chip on the motherboard,
is actually a Broadcom 4401. You may be able to do that from Device
Manager, use Everest to figure it out, or check it visually.

The Broadcom chip, *could* be the one to the left of the upper (white colored)
PCI slot.

As well, for this to work, you'd expect to see at least one
"unknown" or yellow exclamation marked entry in Device Manager.
If Device Manager appears clean, and there is no LAN chip entry
or nothing wanting a driver, it could be the LAN chip is disabled
in the BIOS.

Whenever you can't get a driver from the motherboard manufacturer,
look at the chips near the Ethernet connector, and post their
markings. Apparently the MX4sG-4dN mobo uses a Broadcom b4401 chip,
and drivers for it can be downloaded from here:
