help: text-to-speech problem

Description:
I am using windowsxp Chinese version.My text to speech can't work.

What I have tried:
1.My voice card. I check it. It can work.
2.enter control panal, choose voice, choose text-to-speech setting.

I choose narrator:
Microsoft Mary.

words:
You have selected Microsoft Mary as the computer's default voice.

speed:
normal

then I click on the prelisten button.

It gives me an alert:
It can't be played. Please choose other narrator or choose a different voice
layout equipment.

Anyone can give clues.
