Help & Support files cannot be accessed

I don't know what happened, but none of the "Help" files
can be accessed. Initially I could, but for some reason,
unknown to me, it just doesn't work now.

I click on the Help & Support link in the Start menu, the
hour glass turns a few times and then nothing else
happens.

None of the Office XP Professional seems to have a "Help
Index" either (when I click on Help I get the Office
Assistant, and maybe that's all that is supposed to be
there).

Is it possible, using the installation CD to do a custom
installation of only the help files?
