Help Slow Response when DOS Program runnng together under XP

I have a DOS MRP Program, and Office 2000 install on Windows XP Pro,
They are all running very well when they run separately. If my Dos program
is running, the Word 2000 or Excel 2000 are very slow to open windows or open
file or save file. If I exit the DOS program, they are very fast. But I
need them open together, so that I can check the infomation from the DOS
program, and then keyin to my Word or Excel.

How to solve the slow Excel 2000 & Word 2000 when my Dos Program is running?

Thanks

DOS programs often "leaked" memory. Unless this is something that just
started going wrong and things did work well before, you probably can't
do anything about this. You might want to keep an old pc around to run
your DOS program, or find a 32-bit equivalent that will work better on
modern pc's.

Of course, if this combination *did* work well once, then do repost back
with details about what changed. Also, people who worked with DOS back
in the day got very clever about managing memory. Maybe if you give
some details about the program - such as its name - someone will have
more suggestions for you.

Probably no real way. The DOS program in XP is running in an emulation
of DOS, which is a heavy user of CPU, especially for a DOS program that
was doing heavy IO work. About all you can do is look for the Processes
concerned in Task Manager - Processes page, r-click on them and Set
Priority for the DOS program to below normal, and perhaps the others to
Above normal
