Help screen automatically pops up

I am using Windows XP on an HP laptop. The 'Help' screen randomly pops up
regardless of what program I am on. How can I stop this from happening?

Thank you for any suggestions.
 
Do you mean the XP's Help and Suuport, or, the Help from a particular program? Not sure what would cause either to "randomly" pop up.
What does the Title bar of the window say?
And are you possibly randomly (accidentaly) pressing the F1 function key?

See if some of your keyboard keys are stuck, or perhaps have gunk.
