help saving movie!

i have a one hour movie captured from a video camera, it's an 11gb file.
i used movie maker to apply various effects, not over the top, just fade
in, fade out, speed up and a music track. got the whole lot down to
under 3 minutes. however, when i try to "save movie", i could get to
around 90% and then it just hung.

someone suggested more memory. i've upgraded ram to 2gb, hdd is over
300gb, and nothing has changed on the movie maker front! it still hangs
at 90% saved! can anyone make any constructive comments on this? is
movie maker a dud, or am i just missing something really simple?

thanks for that. i should've said that i've already studied your
website! so far i've looked for conflicting codecs (didn't find any) and
i've lowered hardware acceleration. mm still hangs at precisely 91% and
i will rip its bloody arms off if it doesn't behave for me soon!

i'll keep studying. you are sure to have the answer on there somewhere!

that sounds like things from my Crashes and Hangs page, not my Can't Save a
Movie one.

you know what, i just fixed it.
i ditched my first effort, remade the whole thing and it saved just fine
.... !!
