HELP - Removing Unistalled Programs Registry Entries

W

WebWizard97

I am running windows 2000 and I want to know how to properly remove
the registry entries left behind by programs, which have been
uninstalled either through the control panel or vendor provided
unistall utility.

I have used RegClean v4.1, Ashampoo PowerUp XP Platinum (v1.00), and
Ashampoo WinOptimizer Platinum Suite (v1.13) none of which seem to
remove the "orphanded" registry entries.

I need a solution(s), that will (really) remove the "orphanded"
registry entries not just claim they do.

Any / All assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advanced.

Write down the Program info in the Add/Remove window word for word,
space for space.

Open regedit, click File, Export. At the bottom of the Dialog in Export
range, click All and name the file all.reg and save it in c:\.

Then press Ctrl-F and type the info from Add/Remove in exactly. Click
Find next. Remove all entries in a folder or folder references
containing the name. Press the F3 key to continue through the registry
until all entries are gone.

If you make a mistake and some other program stops working, open
Explorer, navigate to C:\ and right click on the all.reg file and select
Merge. This will re-enter anything you may have removed after the
export.

All installed programs that show in Add\Remove can be found in the registry keys under this key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

Remove and backup the key.
