Help removing Norton AV 2005

We downloaded a trial version of NORTON Internet Security 2005 which expired
sometime in Nov. We decided not to renew/purchase and downloaded AVG instead
(yesterday). At some point yesterday (not sure if it was during the download
of AVG) I saw a screen that had something about parental controls on it. It
peaked my interest but then the screen was gone. I thought it had something
to do with AVG and didn't think anything of it.

Today after rebooting I have found that all of a sudden Norton's Parental
Control feature (which we don't need and never had on in the first place) is
keeping me from viewing a lot of sites, including my yahoo email and news
links! (Why? Especially if my trial ended in November?!)

I tried the add/remove program. Doesn't work. I tried turning off the
parental control. Won't let me. I tried signing in to my Norton account to
get their tech support but I can't sign in until I renew? I don't want to
renew!

Does anyone have any advice to help me get rid of this program entirely?

Sorry if I'm in the wrong discussion group-if so, please direct me to the
right one. I know hardly anything about pc's!

Oh, I am running WinXP, but don't know what other info you might need.
Please advise.

Thanks.
