Help Recovering Install...

Turned my notebook on this afternoon only to be affronted with an unending
restart cycle.

It starts with a screen stating my system.sav file is corrupt or missing,
followed by the typical BSOD, and shortly thereafter, a restart.

I figured I need to utilize the recovery console, but I have one major
problem...it is prompting me for my administrator password. Unfortunately,
I've had this notebook for over three years now and I can't remember what I
originally set up for the administrator password.

Is there any way around this?

Thanx.

Have you tried just a blank password? Alternately, there are password
reset utilities, which can be useful *unless* you invoked encryption. Many
of them are based on Linux boot disks.

Yep...tried a blank password...no go.

No, I did not enable encryption...where might I locate one of these password
reset utilities and how does it work?

Thanx again.
