Computer won't re-boot after I erroneously closed out
some files in Task Manager. All it does is start up, go
to splash screen then reboots it's self. It will not
allow me into Safe Mode, or command prompt. I can get
into Setup though. Have tried to repair using the XP CD,
but again it just reboots it's self and goes through the
same process. Any assistance or advice will surely be
appreciated. Thank you.

Hi

Have you tried 'Last Known Good Configuration' - same screen as Safe Mode?

Do you have your BIOS set to boot from only the CD or from the CD first?

What files did you delete?

Does your computer boot from the XP disk when you
put it in the drive? Or is it booting from the HD?
YOu may have to set your bios to boot from the CD
over the HD. I got into one of these "endless loop"
things about a year ago and thats how I got out of it.
I now backup with an image program (ghost) and
save the image file on an external HD which I shut down
after I create the image. the ghost program fits on a
bootable floppy. Once it boots into ghost, it finds
the extenal drive and image files and overwrites the
entire HD - boot record and all. Puts it all back like it
was. Good luck
