Hello
My little cousin has been on my computer and did a lot of downloading, I
ended up with lots of things on my computer which I have been trying to
uninstall. The problem is I'm not sure if I'm now uninstalling things that
are meant to be on my computer? Could someone please help me or direct me on
to the right place that can?
Thank you :-)

Hello Rhiannon,
I think you will need to name the programs you plan or have removed before
anyone will be able to answer your question.

Here is the list of things I'm not sure about....a lot of the things I have
already removed but these ones I'm not too sure if they're meant to remain on
my computer?

Blubster ads support
Indeo software
InterActual Player
QuickTime Player

Also, can anyone tell me what Java is and if I need it?
Thank you :-)

And another thing.....
I put in a recovery cd as I uninstalled the sound and I now have two Adobe
Reader - Adobe Reader 6.0 & Adobe Reader 6.0.1, which one do I uninstall?
The same thing has happened with the Java, I have:

Java 2 Runtime Environment Standard Edition v1.3.1_04
Java 2 Runtime Environment, SEv1.4.2_05

The latest Adobe reader is the one that you want - but I'd
uninstall both and install the latest version from Adobe.

The Java RTE v1.3.1_04 seems pretty old. I'd remove it.

Quicktime and Java are both used for some websites. If you
remove them and they are needed they will be downloaded again.

Blubster appears to be person-to-person music sharing
software (like Napster).

Indeo seems to be related to video (and audio?) codecs.

InterActual is a DVD player.

All this found by using Google. You should try it some time.
<grin>

Cheers,

Cliff

hehehe...thanks for that!

I'm trying to remove the blubster ad support now from the "add/remove
progams" and it keeps saying I have to uninstall the software first, but I
have already uninstalled the main software? How do I get it off!!????

If the (Add/Remove) says that this software has been already uninstalled it
mean it's really not there, you can remove the name from the list and it
will not affect anything ,but there will be a traces of it in registry ,I
suggest running some registry cleaner software to remove the unused entries
,but be careful when using it.

I suggest that you get some adware removal tool like AdAware
or SpyBot Search and Destroy. NightLegend suggests a
regsitry cleaner - I'm a little wary of such programs. Many
people swear by them, many other swear AT them.

Cheers,

Cliff
