help please urgent!!!!!

i was updating XP pro on a cpu that was running 98Se and it has gotten stuck
in the middle of setup. totally frozen i restared it and the setup began
where it left off where it stopped for like 30 sec and now it's stopped again
now i just get a blue screen. what can i do i tried to restart in safe mode
and last good config but it just goes back to the same place. It's telling
me that cannot find boot.ini and that the entry will be truncated. what can
i do
is there anything?? i hope so please!!!! i really need some of the info on
the hard drve. what can do??????

an mvp can probably guide you. but have you tried using the recovery
console? in setup, select the recovery console and it will eventually take
you to the dos prompt. type help and you will get a listing of cmds. i
think that bootcfg might help you with the boot.ini error. type bootcfg/?
to get the options. then when you are done type exit and reboot. if you do
a setup again it may not incur the error again...
