CPU Type: AMD Athlon(tm) XP 3000+
After trying reducing hardware acceleration in Windows (had no effect to
restored to maximum) tried similar approach in ATI driver setting: moved one
notch from maximum, system requested reboot, and since then cannot get
Windows to start. Sits for many minutes during reboot attempt, occasionally
giving message that "ati2dvag.dll" is corrupt and in a loop. If left for
5-10 minutes, will boot into Windows, but only shows part of screen, and
cannot run anything at all. C-A-D not effective. Have to hard reset. Can
go into safe mode (still takes 5 minutes or so), but still only see part of
screen. Don't see how to remove or reinstall drivers. Tried safe mode from
last known good configuration, no difference. Also tried Recovery (non
destructive), no difference. Would really appreciate some advice please.
Machine is 13 months old, supplier gone out of business. Don't have Windows
XP Home CD, but new copy has been ordered, arriving tomorrow. Would like to
be able to link to home network, get CD writer working or access USB memory
key before doing anything drastic to back off a number of files that were not
backed up when problem occurred.
Many thanks
