Help outlook 2007 trial has expired - how can I transfer e-mails

Hi, when I purchased my new PC I thought I'd try the new 2007 software, but I
was not very happy with the Excel product of Office 2007 so decided not to
buy. I then installed Office XP on my PC and hoped to be able to transfer the
e-mails that I had downloaded in the trial to my new Outlook or Outlook
Express.

However, the Import and Export functions are greayed out and Outlook Express
is not recognising the PST files, even after running scanpst.exe. Now when I
even try to go into Outlook 2007 to view the files I get the following error
message 'The file ExSec32.dll is incompatible with Microsoft Outlook. Please
download Outlook again'.

I can't reinstall outlook 2007 as I don't wish to buy the product and
contained within my expired trial version is some important mails.

My only thought was on the PC which has a broken screen to download another
trial and to copy the ~Outlook.pst.tmp files and the other in the directory
over to the old PC.

Can someone give me any suggestions, I have wasted so much time on this and
I need those e-mails!

Hi Robert,

The tmp file is the only files I can find in the directory it is stored in
C:/DocumentsandSettings/Administrator/Local Settings/Application
Data/Microsoft/Outlook

Am I looking in the wrong place or is there anyway to rescue the .pst?

Before the .dll error message I copied all the files into a folder on the
desktop if I burn them to disk and copy them onto the old PC where I will
instigate a new trial can they work from there, say if I drag in - any advice

Thanks

Robert,

Thanks for the information - you have been most helpful.

I had perfored a search of my computer with all the .pst files and the only
ones came back were the temp files, and they only seemed to exist when I had
the trial version of Outlook 2007 open.

When the trial of Outlook 2007 expires does it disable the .pst file? As I
could not see any further .pst files in the directory. Could they be on a
back up drive?

Otherwise do I have any options with regards to the messages which I have
copied to the desktop folder?

Thanks again

Uninstalling Outlook doesn't delete any pst-files just like uninstalling
Word doesn't delete doc-files.
Have you searched for hidden files and folders as well?

If you made a backup, then you could use that indeed.
What exactly did you copy to the desktop?

Hello,

I accidently replaced my outlook.pst with an older one. On running the file
recovery software, I was able to recover it in form of ~outlook.pst.tmp.
Could you please guide me on how to recover my emails from there?

Thanks in Advance
